The Forum has been organized by the courtesy of government of Russia with auspices of President Putin. The award is organized for the recognition of the achievements of women in their work and for their contributions towards the sustainable development of the society.
The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum Award embodies a ceremony for the public acknowledgment of the contributions of the winners in forming, implementing and developing the modern agenda aimed sustainable development in the civil society as well as bringing forward healthy and upright society.
The Second Eurasian Forum was organized under the leadership of Valentina Matviyenka, the Chairperson of the Council of Russian Federation, the most influential woman in Russia. In the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum Prize “Public Recognition – 2018” award ceremony was held in the Catherine Hall of the Tauride Palace on September 21, 2018. Gülden Türktan received her Public Recognition Award from Valentina Matviyenko, as the Founding President of the Women 20 – W20 Turkey – the Women outreach group of the G20, Women in international and nongovernmental movements, for her initiation and support for the for Women’s international stance in the G20.
The award was given to both international and Russian women achievers. Valentina Tereshkova, who was the first woman cosmonaut in the space in 1963. Tereshkova received her public recognition award at the same platform with Dr. Turktan.
The award symbolizes recognition of the merits of women in the formation and implementation of a modern agenda, overcoming difficulties in the struggle for goals important for the global security and attaining a sustainable development path for the societies.
Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairperson of the Council of Federations in Russia, Chairperson of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Chairperson of the Organizational Committee of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum, presented the award in nine nominations to the world women leaders from Ireland, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Russia.
Matviyenko said “You have been recognized by the world’s women’s elite, you have worked to make this world a better place” in her opening speech of the ceremony as the head of the higher house of the Russian Parliament and congratulated each award winner one by one.
The laureates of the award in the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum of 2018 were:
1) Amal Abdallah Al-Kubaisi, United Arab Emirates, the chairperson of the National Federal Council of the United Arab Emirates, Women in politics award for the development of the parliamentary dialogue,
2) Fusiko Hayashi, Japan, the mayor of the city Yokohama, Women in top management for the implementation of the best city management technologies,
3) Hayriniso Yusufi, Tajikistan, Deputy Speaker of the Higher House of the Republic of Tajikistan, Women in international politics for extending the international dialogue,
4) Gülden Türktan, Turkey, Founding President of the W20 – the Women outreach group of G20, Women in international and nongovernmental movements, for her initiation and support for the for Women’s international stance in G20,
5) Son Myong Kim, Republic of Korea, Director General of the Russian Cultural and Educational Center “Pushkin House” in Seoul, Women in Culture for the Support of Humanitarian Cooperation,
6) Debbie Degan, Ireland, the founder of the fund Children with Love for helping orphans, Women in charity for the support of childhood,
7) Bettina Pfleiderer, Germany, head of the World Association of Women Doctors, Women in Medicine, for the development of scientific knowledge,
8) Reiko Watanabe, Japan, the outstanding violinist – virtuoso, for enhancing the world culture,
9) And Russian scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences Tatyana Chernigovskaya; the world’s first woman astronaut, Valentina Tereshkova; the only Russian artist completely devoid of vision Natalia Zalevskaya; and the founder and CEO of the company Russian company “Nanobarrier” Marina Ross.
There were women and men attendees from more than 110 countries at the Forum.
At the opening ceremony President Putin made an address where he said that “Russia had always paid special attention to protecting mothers and children, as well as supporting women. It is in our common interest to deal with gender inequality, to eradicate many stereotypes and career restrictions that unfortunately still exist.”
President Vladimir Putin also said that “in the next six years, an extension will be launched to strengthen and widen the previous government work that has proven to be successful to support the early motherhood and childcare. Government support shall be available for the second and subsequent children. Low-income families and parents of children with disabilities are also entitled to government support. Also, starting next year, Russia is launching free of charge state-run professional development programs that will be available to all the women on maternity leave who are taking care of children under age three. For mothers to be able to go back to work, 100 percent of the young children are provided with a place in kindergartens across Russia, in almost all the Russian regions with few exceptions, which shall soon be sorted out. In the next few years, we will create additional places in the nurseries, so that women can return to work as soon as possible or learn a new profession to resume work.”
Dr. Gülden Türktan received her award for Public Recognition as Founding Chairperson of W20 for her efforts in the launch of an outreach group in the G20 worldwide that the bring the women of the G20 countries together which now serves as a platform to propose policies for the enhancement of women’s status and participation in the economy. The W20 was initially launched in 2015 under the auspices of the Turkish Government, and President Erdogan during Turkey’s Presidency to the G20 by an organizing committee headed by Dr. Gülden Türktan as the chairperson of KAGIDER, the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey.
